Hey all,
I know it has been a little while since I have posted, but honestly that is because not too much has been going on lately. I just work during the week, and then on the weekends I am at my families lake cabin.
I want to hear what you guys think of those guilt trip Christian forwards. You know the ones that say we must send it on to everyone we know, or else!
Personally, I don't think they are a very good way to try and spread the gospel. I know that the people I most desire to see become Christians (my family) would laugh me out of town, and ridicule me for a long time if I sent them something like that. Why? Those are so impersonal, and not a good place to start with someone who is a non-believer, should we start out with the message "you are a horrible person if you don't forward this to everyone you know" I mean really, that will only scare new believers off. I just got one, and the stories are indeed heart warming and all of that, but I sent it out only to people I know are already believers, because I don't think that is the message that we should be sending to non-believers. That message of 'you better do this, or else, and you probably won't get into heaven if you don't do this' that will only scare off people, and honestly, that is too much of an 'I earn my way into heaven' approach. HELLO! No it is not that way, we by ourselves will never be good enough, can never forward that message on enough, and can never redeem our already committed sins, that work was done 2005 years ago on Calvary hill.
Well, I think you all get the stance that I have, and I don't need to beat a dead horse here.
On other things, I was out at my lake cabin this weekend, and the weather up here was very warm, upper 80's, which is abnormal for memorial day weekend here. It was pretty good, we had the first swims of the season, and went on a boat ride. Then last night, I went over to a park and played some good ultimate frisbee, which tired me out pretty well. After which we went over to one of the guys houses to swim in his pool.
That is all for now, but please do comment on the forwarding issue, but try and not be too cruel to me if you disagree. Laters.

brian-
i would have to agree with you. to be quite honest, i don't even like most of the forwards for myself. they are super corny and often not even a bit realistic. i surely don't like the message that implies you are only good enough if you send it out. anything that is telling me that even is a lie. my salvation is not affected by those forwards. they are a nuissance.
