WOW, time does fly when you are having fun! This past week has been very busy, so I will try my best to fill you in from where I left off in the last post.
Ok, so we spent one night in Hells Gate National park, which is the park that inspired most the scenes from Disneys Lion King movie, and the Laura Croft Tomb Raider movies. We camped out up on a bluff, over looking the plains. In the morning, I woke up rather early, and could see the fog covering the feilds below. After breakfast, and breaking down camp, we went on a bus ride. During the bus ride, we saw some Zebras, Warthogs, Giraffes, Baboons, and Impalas. I chose to go on the hike, rather than just rock climbing. The hike was through a big gorge, but very pretty. I got lots of good video of it. After the two hour hike, we met up with the rest of the group at the famous rock climbing walls in the park. I did one route, and made it all the way. As the summer goes on, I am getting less and less scared of hieghts.
Saturday night we went into Nairobi, and went to a big mall. We were all pretty tired when we got back to camp.
Sunday afternoon our campers came, and I have four campers in my cabin, ages 9-12. They are a handful, but a lot of fun. We have rock climbed, played a lot of games, and sung a lot of cheers. The weather here is still pretty nice, but cooler in the morning, usually overcast, and then clears up by the evening.
Tomorrow night is the big camp out night, were we go on a hike, to a small forest area, and set up camp and sleep there.
I am so glad that I was able to come over here to Kenya, and to teach and play with little kids. Most of them really like Ultimate Frisbee, and especially Soccer, I don't play soccer at all, but I do play Ultimate pretty well, so I have had a lot of opportunities to play with and teach the children how to play Ultimate.
On Friday night there is this cool thing we do called summit fires. We hike the whole camp down to a big area, and the guys lead with big torches, and then once down there everyone sings there age group cheer, and there is a big presentation, and awards given out. It should be a blast!
Well, that is about all for now, but I definately am enjoying my time here, and am making some great friends.
