Great to hear from some of you via comments and email. Sounds like life back in the Spokane area is going well.
Last night we had a jr. camp campout, and since I am one of the counselors for jr. camp this week, I went along. It was pretty fun, we camped out higher up on the Brackenhurst lands. At about 10pm, once the kids had all been in bed for over an hour, some of the other counselors and I went up, and walked around the boys tents, with no lights on, and making growling noises, and rustling lots of the leaves. This morning we asked them if they heard anything last night, and they all said they heard some big animals growling outside the tents, and we said that when we had made our first walk around camp this morning before any of them were up, we saw leopard prints. So we scared them pretty good.
Today I have already taught two groups of kids about rock climbing, and outdoor living. For rock climbing, I taught them two different knots that we use here at camp to tie climbers on to the ropes, and for outdoor living I taught them how to get water, how to clean it (boiling), how to start fires, and how to find east and west by using sticks stuck in the ground and waiting fifteen minutes and seeing which way the shadow points.
This afternoon we have some big field games, and then ''star search" where the kids pick a song out to lip sing to.
One more full day of camp for this week. I am still loving it.
