we made it.....

Last night we made it to Nairobi around 10pm, and to camp at about 12 am. Then went to bed about 1am. The flights were long, but pretty good all in all. We had only a few problems, such as we left London an hour late because the air conditioner on the plane broke and it took them that long to fix it. Then when we did arrive in Nairobi, several people found out that their bags did not make it with them. Mine arrived, and were the first off the plane, and so I was the first one out of customs. Actually the only people whose luggage arrived last night were the three of us from the Northwest. Everyone else's baggage should arrive tonight and be delivered in the morning.
We had a very busy day today! I woke up at 7 am, and took a short walk around the camp grounds, and then we all met for breakfast at 8:30. We got to meet some of the full time staff of the grounds, and just got a tour of the grounds too. This camp is absolutely beautiful, originally in the early 1900's it was an English country club, and you can tell, pretty posh, because it has been well maintained.
This afternoon we did several team building activities, such as a ropes course, where I walked across a beam 35 ft in the air w/ nothing to hold on to but the rope that connected me to the cable above my head. Then we rappelled down from the end of the course. Also we played a big field game that is pretty similar to soccer.
Tonight we had dinner outside, around a large camp fire. The sky here at night is very pretty, no lights to take away from the granduer, so several thousand stars are visible.
After dinner, seven Massia Warriors came out in full dress, and did a traditional chant and dance and jumping for us. It was really cool to watch, and we also got to join in. I must admit we looked a bit silly, but it was a lot of fun, and a once in a life time experience.
Tomorrow we will leave for a wilderness called 'hells gate' which is famous for its rock climbing, and wild life. We will camp out there.
I really enjoy the staff, we all bring many different things to the table, but we all respect each other, and it already feels like we have bonded quite a bit.
That is all for now, but don't worry, we all made it safely. Peace.
